Overview

Automata is a London-based lab automation company building AI-ready platforms for life sciences, with customers across the world's largest pharma and biotech firms. Their platform combines modular robotics, orchestration software, and unified data infrastructure to turn manual lab workflows into programmable, autonomous systems.

Their old website was holding the marketing team back. Page speed was poor, the hero video was dragging Core Web Vitals into the red, and every content change needed engineering input. They wanted a faster, better-looking site, and a stack their team could actually run themselves.

The outcome

A faster, marketer-led website that helped Automata land a $45m Series C.

Paddle Creative migrated Automata onto Webflow. The new site is built around components and CMS collections, so the marketing team controls content, pages, and product updates without waiting on developers. We also ran hands-on Webflow training so the team felt confident shipping changes from day one.

Performance was a focus from the start. Switching the hero video from HubSpot to SuperMoo cut Largest Contentful Paint by 67%. Time to Interactive halved, from 10.4s to 4.9s. Server response time dropped 91%. The faster, sharper site supported Automata's go-to-market through a major announcement: a $45m Series C led by Dimension, with a strategic investment partnership from Danaher.

Automata now has a website that matches the ambition of the platform behind it, and a marketing team that can move at the pace the business needs.
